Anybody tried a DD coil on their 250:nerd:

n/t

The way the coil is wound usually like the letter DD back to back usually oblong. It work more like a windshield wiper effect front tip to back tip when it goes in the ground not a cone shape like a concentric coils on the ace 250 so it kind of slips in between trash better. .It is suppose to be better in mineralized ground. But a recently they have started to make round dd coils instead of oblong.Hope this give some idea of what it means.

There are no DD coils for the ACE series.

Stands for Double D due to the coil configuration, wound like two letter D's back to back. Also the initials of the guy who designed it - Don Dykstra.

Yeah it throws a thin, wedge-shaped signal. The center bar in the coil is the width of the signal and the length is tip to tip. It detects as deep at either end as it does anywhere else.
