Anybody use Minelab Pi detector on the belt to make ti lighter?

I am very curious why I never saw people using Minelab Pi detectors like GP or GPX on the belts to safe weight?
 
I have been trying to figure out how to hip mount the gpx. The smaller cable that goes from the handle to the box seems to be the main problem. I love the gpx, but the weight kills me after just a few hours
