Anybody using the 9x12 for the Ace 250?

:detecting:Hi guys,

I've been going to big parks and it seems that I need a bigger coil so I can go a bit faster and miss less? Is any of you using the 9x12 coil out there? Do you like it? Is it much heavier or not much of a differience? Do you use it all the time? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks![size=medium]

The 9x12 coil is ideal for that type of hunting. I hunting with one almost exclusively for the first 15 months of owning my Ace. You can be almost as accurate with your pinpointing as compared to the standard coil and it is only marginally heavier. About 3 ounces if memory serves me correctly. You can get a reasonably good feel for what a target is with it as well. I have gone back to the standard coil this year, as I feel that I can finesse a bit more target information out of it, compared to the larger coil. You'll get a couple of 2 inches more depth out of the larger coil, but the main reason that I use it, is for ground coverage. You can cover about 50% + more ground with the larger coil than the standard one.

I am pretty much ditto with what Mick says. After using nothing but the stock coil for about a year it was a little bit of a learning curve on the pinpointing. I have it down good now. It is a little heavier but really covers the ground. Keep the coil as close to your feet as you can.

Yes! Perfect for large areas, It still maintains it's great sensitivity like the stock coil, and also pinpoints esily.

Fast doesn't fill your pouch and you'll miss a lot more by going fast. Take your time. The park ain't going away. The big coil is heavier but operates and pinpoints just like the stock coil. IF the park is trashy you may not like the big coil there as it sees to many targets at one time.

I agree with Uncle Willy , the 9x12 is a great coil but it picks up alot of targets , so a ferrous target close to a non ferrous target confuses matters with the slow recovery speed of the ace 250. On pasture fields in Britain , the 9x12 is vital to pick out targets at depth but on ploughed where targets are churned to the surface the standard coil works better and in some naily areas the 4.5 sniper comes in handy.Remember , using the 9x12 it;'s low and slow all the way , and try to crack the pinpointing on your standard coil first.there's a video on you youtube telling you how to de-tune your coil when pinpointing and since i've watched it i've really cracked target location to near perfection.Stick with the 9x12 , master the coil and you will not be sorry....POWER TO THE ACE 250 :clapping:

It is done Guys, I bought it and it included a free ACE 250 for the extra 100 bucks with the screen cover and the garret carrying bag and headphones in like new condition from Ebay. It was 220 bucks for everything, shipping included. I got a great deal. Here is the link in case you guys like to see the pic of my new goodies. I hope I get it soon, I can't wait to try that sucker at that park.

Congrats Yaridnac, you'll like it! I just got mine and got almost the same deal you did.

Anyone know a good place to get a rain cover for the 250?

I use my 9x12 coil all but 1 time. It works great and I have found a lot of great things with it.
