Anyone Been Into Theor Excal 800/1000? Got a Question

I replaced my excal 800 8 inch coil with a 10 inch coil. I did the same as an erlier owner of the machine and did a solder/splice/waterproof. I don't like it.

I have removd the end cap where the battery connection and coil leads are and have a question. Does the coil lead squeeze through the connector on the plastic lid or does that actually unscrew off the cap? It looks like it is a fitting with a nut. I know how to do small detailed solder work and want to go ahead and get rid of the splice and reconnect it to the board but I am not sure how to remove the coil strain relief/waterproof plug for the coil.

Thanks!
