I have been using the D since it first came out and it has never let me down. It amazes me how deep it will find silver I have pulled silver coins at over 8" deep. My ring count is up to over 60 and half are Gold just added two more this past weekend one silver one gold. I have never had a problem with it it just keeps delivering the great finds. I wore out the hand grip on it and sent it back to Tesoro and the replaced it and tuned it up a couple of years ago and it is working better than new I have considered a different brand or upgrading but I don't think there is anything out there I would rather swing. Thanks Tesoro for a great machine!

Thats great to know,,,, often thought about one,, but allready have 7 tesoros laying around here !!

Just to be curious what did the rings come up on the i.d. meter.

thanks

The gold rings varied small gold were in the foil range but had a solid value of mid to low teens larger gold rings hit in the nickle range also with solid values of mid 30's to 40's the one huge gold ring I found size 13 14k with diamonds hit in the zinc range at mid 70's. One thing I like to do is when I get to a area that may have rings parks, ball fields etc. I throw one of my gold rings on the ground and see where it reads and then I will zone in on those type of signals. I did that on Sunday and very next hit was a Black Hills gold ring with a birthstone. Good Luck!

I wish someone would post a listing & pic of gold rings and the numbers they come up on the Deleon at...all the stuff I have dug lower than a Nickel has been trash only. Everything I have dug in the 60's was also trash...

Gold rings come in from low foil to Zinc penny depending on their size and Kt. rating..and foil and tabs plus more junk mimic them. Fortunately usually gold rings are much heavier than the junk that mimics them and either hit harder or sound different to a trained ear to cut down the odds but expect to dig a lot of junk if you wish to find a gold ring...I will add approx. 1/3 of rings lost are thin gold womans rings so never let a solid foil reading go without digging..Whoops one more thing Tesoro's compared to many brands do like gold rings...

I understand what your saying, but my advice to you is to stop relying on VDI's and dig everything with a good tone. I can tell when VDI machines have been used in an area I am detecting, because of the nickles and pull tabs that have been passed by.I then know there is a good chance to find gold. With either my Tejon or Vaquero my gold, nickle, pull tabs and foil has tripled since getting rid of my VDI machines:thumbup: Try putting a piece of blue masking tape over your VDI read out and go by tone. see if this helps. Gold should be coming your way:thumbup:

Best advice I can offer is raid your wifes jewlery box and practice with them before you go out or carry a thin gold ring and a heavier one and use them as referance out in the field. It will help alot!

My wife's jewelry box is mostly every ring I've found and want to sell-NOT!:nono::cry:

It sounds as though you have done very well with you Deleon finding gold. That is an impressive amount of rings. I owned a Deleon for about a week and had a chance to swap it even up for a very nice Fisher cz5, so I jumped all over the deal. I wish I could have used the Deleon more before trading it, but in the time I did use it, I noticed with the stock coil it was very jumpy in the ID department in trash. I never really got to try it in a cleaner site, but I'm sure it is a great detector. Might have to try another Deleon sometime.............
