Anyone ever need to send in an ETRAC?

I have had my Etrac for just a short time and had a problem with the off/on switch. On pushing the switch it might come on after the first push, 5th push, or may not work until 15 or more. So knowing anything man made has a chance of something going wrong, I returned it to Minelab for repair. HOLY CRAP, it cost me $28.90 Priority Mail and $19.45 insurance, making the grand total $48.35.
This is terrible!!! A new machine and it cost that much to return it to make it correct.
The Etrac is an amazing machine and I am liking it even in the short time I have had it.
Is there a better more economical route to ship? Will Minelab reimburse my shipping?
Thanks
Bill

Sorry to hear of your troubles Bill, hope the machine is feeling better soon and you get everything resolved. I've been getting very attached and familiar with my new Minelab too so hopefully the green stuff will start dieing soon so we can get out and hunt. JJ

DID YOU SEND IN YOUR WARRENTY! If yes then you got a legit bitch. If yes keep posting cause any repuatble company mould take care of you rather have you tell the world what ytour problems are,.

It turned on, and would not turn off. Then when I pulled Batteries to turn off, it would not turn back on.
Richard confirmed it was DOA when he got it back too. New one worked just fine. Richard offered to pick up the shipping cost.

That's Richard for ya----one good guy!!----The only trouble I ever had with an Etrac (not operational) but the stand was loose & rattling to the point of driveing you nuts.---Minelab was excellent about getting me another machine & picking up the one I had at no charge to me.----That was one of the earlier ones, I think they've "cured" that little problem since.-------Del

Well, I am a happy camper I got my Etrac problem all taken care of and am ready to go detecting tomorrow. It was a simple problem with a circuit board. All OK now!!! :jump:
Super group of people to deal with. Just under 2 weeks turn around.
What else can I say but THANKS MINELAB.........

I too shipped my E-trac (6 months old detector) to Las Vegas. It won't turn on. UPS tried to deliver it this morning (Friday 10:18 a.m.) but Minelab was closed. Seems like a big company like that would be open on a Friday. Shoot, I was hoping they'd fix it today and overnight it back to me. Maybe they saw the UPS man coming and locked the door and shut off the lights till he left. I just hope it doesn't take too long to either fix the problem or replace the detector.

because it was staff development day.. They will do you right. It may be about 2-3 weeks or so after they receive it depending on their work load. It is worth the wait, but I know it is difficult to cope with life while it's gone, especially reading all the good finds on the forum.
Hang in there you will be happy again soon.

Hilarious

How long does it take to receive a shipment from UPS? Maybe 2 minutes.

If they just knew how many E-Tracs gibsondan has sold for them, they might take good care of him.

Maybe it's time for Minelab to have a customer appreciation day.

Every day I can use the Etrac seems like cutomer appreciation day. Its absence will make you realize that.

I am focusing on the light at the end of the tunnel - the day I get my E-trac back working as it should. Yeah, I'm angry my detector stopped working. I'm impatient. But these things happen. I choose to be positive. I'm counting on Minelab to fix my detector and get it back to me as soon as they can. I'm feeling confident they will do that. But life without my detector is just not the same. The waiting period is tough because I've got the itch to get out there and hunt while the weather is still nice here in Ohio. I got a monkey on my back and he wants to go metal detecting. lol

2 or 3 weeks with no detector when the snow is coming will wear on a mans soul! The best thing to do Dan is find spots to hunt for the Reunion Hunt :) Do some driving or maybe hit the town hall.Research can be almost as much fun to me as Hunting.Sometimes the anticipation of all the old silver and relics Im gonna find on a new site is the Best Part of the whole Hunt! Best of Luck on a speedy return :)

Don't worry. There were 7 things wrong with my E Trac when I bought it. 6 I knew about and the 7th Minelab found. Some of my issues were. Machine did a forced shut down for no reason,Volume would cut out and barely be audible in the headphones, Machine would just restart at different times. Machine would sometimes NOT turn on. Don't remember all the rest, I'm sure it in an old post. Minelab found that the light didn't work. Was I mad, you bet!!! Got the machine back in a short time and it has worked flawlessly since then. Been about 8 mos now, I think. Here's some of the last couple of hunts with it. This machine is really a monster!!!! Those are just some of what that machine can do at some of our cellar holes. You will be pleased with that machine. Just go SLOW!!!!!
