Anyone feel like posting up best way to start using a Safari ??Thanks

Ron you don't want that. Its a clad tree only.:clapping:...Z

Ron I know a few people who can tell you but they are locked up right now and you will have to wait until they are declared normal again. ....Z

I didnt know that there is a coin tree but I found one! One form of votive offering is the token offering of a coin. One such tree still stands near Ardmaddy House in Argyll, Scotland. The tree is a hawthorn, a species traditionally linked with fertility, as in

I bet you a walking encyclopedia. And you better tell them what you did with their wishing tree before they get mad at you......Z

They are locked up in a giant gumball machine, and to get them out you need a coin from the tree!!!

Thanks dont know nuthin it was very informative and historical. Only joking, sorry. I forget many of the guys on this forum are very serious. I am too old to take things serious and yet I don't feel old and love playing with my 5 year old great grand son for hours. He keeps me from distorting my perception of things. The things that are important and playing with them.
Thanks again dont know nuthin enjoy your posts.....Z

El....
Captain Hook has a good post: baby steps. Try it. It could help with the noise and confusion. I am running in all metal mode. I am still running factory preset. Yesterday dug 2 quarters, 3 dimes, 1 nickel, 7 pennies 1 was a 1934 wheat. earring, kids ring. That is the oldest coin so far with the Safari and the first wheat and that little guy was way down there.... I am heading out in a few minutes for the beach..... Z

El, If you go back 1 month, maybe 2 read some of the posts on the safari. Some may have quit, or given up the safari, and some have stuck it out. I am glad I have stuck it out. I don't think I would have done any better in some of the places I've detected if I had used any of my other detectors. Might I add that I have been tempted to use a different machine on several ocassions but I stuck with the safari. In the beginning with the safari, I had to make a decision. I decided to keep it, I bought it in Feb. the ground was still frozen. Couldn't use it for 2-3 weeks after I received it. By the time I was ready to give it up, I couldn't send it back. If I tried to sell it I would have lost money right from the start. Once you drive it off the lot, it is used !! I had a learning curve with all of my detectors, just have to stick it out. Be patient with it if you are going to keep it. I am constantly learning new things about this machine. Most of my learning is from doing, using the machine, trial and error. Thomas Edison made about 20,000 attempts before he made that light bulb work. On the other hand all of us on this forum are able to help one another along. I constantly try new things (suggestions) that I read on the posts. The last thing was the coil on the ground noise cancel which works well for me, besides I can't hold the coil any stiller than the ground. And although some matters are serious, I also like to enjoy the funny posts from guys like dontknownuttin. I agree with Z, I am going to paraphrase him by saying life is too short to sweat the small things, especially if it is not a life or death situation. So El, Just want to let you know I'm here for you and hope there is some encouragement found in these posts. Ron

Well, I just wrote a 10 min post, only to have it lost while trying to post it. Z good advice, and good post. Really life is too short to sweat the small things. El, the best advice I can offer is to just get out there and use the machine. When I bought mine, the ground was still frozen. 3 wks later I was finally able to get outside. As in earlier posts Feb-April, people were ready to give up, some did , some didn't. I am glad I stuck it out ! I don't think I would have done any better with any of my other machines, in the same spots that I hunted. On the job training, getting your ear tuned to the machine, and knowing that if it can be found it will. I'm here for you man. Ron

Good post Z !! I have found that there is no substitute for just going out and using the machine. On the job training, trial and error, tuning in your ear to the tones.

Today I ran some tests with a Safari using 3000 year old Roman coins. Coin #1 was a silver one, Coin #2 was bronze, and coin #3 was a mix of silver and lead. here is a photo of the results!

Another thing I noticed about the Roman coin test was that for some reason the Safari responded much stronger when detecting the Roman coins then it did with U.S. clad coins. The tones were sharper and louder sounding. I dont know why this is so but I thought our detecting brothers over in the UK might be interested in this difference. Now I have to return this Safari to my neighbor for some reason he wants it back! LOL
