Anyone have experience with a 7" coil on the TDI?

Hi Greg,

I use my 7 1/2" coil all the time and prefer it in many places. The coil works well, but there is some sacrifice in depth when comparing it to the stock coil. Keep in mind, that is to be expected. My guess is I lose maybe in a good inch plus to two inches depth on a coin size objects under ideal conditions. In trashy areas, I feel I do better with the smaller coil.

One big reason I prefer the smaller coil is because I can pinpoint much better. Maneuvering in certain places is much easier with the small coil also.

In trashy areas, it helps also to be able to separate items which is what I do in the parks.

So, much of the time, the smaller coil is my preferred choice.

I have to agree with Reg i also use the 7.5" most of the time, great for pinpointing. I also use a 6" GoldStalker coil but it is not waterproof.

RUNS SMOOTH AN CLEAN NO PROBLEM DIGGING COINS AND BUTTONS - BULLETS FROM 6 INCHES TO 10 INCHES DEEP WITH A VERY STRONG HIT ON OBJECTS.

What ever happened to the 7.5" (801-3232 - 7.5") coil that White's originally produced? It does not appear on their website.

Hi,

I just emailed Carl at Whites and he stated the 7.5" coil is available and wasn't sure why it wasn't on the website. I suspect it will be shortly. So, yes, the 7.5" coil is available.

Thanks, Reg, I'll shoot him an e-mail asap and see if I can order one.

Hi All,

I just received an update on availability of TDI coils and why they are not listed on the White's website. The TDI and coils are only available through participating dealers or distributors. Sorry about the confusion. Personally, I think they should be listed but state they are only available through dealers, but it isn't my decision and my opinion isn't worth the paper it isn't printed on. (HE HE)

At least, people should now know how to obtain a different coil for their TDI.

Reg

Reg,

Sorry, to get you involved. I only mentioned to Carl who referred me to him. I noticed that he copied you on my reply.

I have for a long time felt that White's is making a mistake by allowing the TDI to be supported solely by their distributors. In that respect White's seems to be giving the TDI back seat to the Sv3.

My problem is, and continues to be that, the distributers in this area (and we are talking Dallas-Ft Worth), don't have websites they maintain or respond to emails sent. I did finally receive a reply from American Detector Distributors. I'm headed over to their shop this morning to get the only 7.5" he has.

Thanks again and my apologizes,
Scott

Hey IDig. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I got my coil at the local White's dealer. He is one of the dealers that sells the TDI. I didn't know they existed either. John

Thanks, RiverJohn,

I got mine from the dealer that I got my machine also.

I just wish White's made it easier to find the "real dealers". There are only 2 in all DFW that are flagged by White's. The one I have done business with and another that by DFW drive time would be more then 1 hour away.

I've got my coil so I've got everything I need now.

Thanks all,
