Anyone have Grey Ghost on their Excal? Performance?

G'day Clive,

I have the Greyghost headphones on my Goldquest PI and as you know, I now have the Excal and in all honesty, the audio is just as clear/sensitive/ and with good tone differentiation on the Minelab headphones. They are nice and comfortable as well and no problems with them slipping. At this early stage, I cannot fault them at all.

Bottom line for me is that there is no way I could justify changing the Minelab U/W phones to GG phones.....hope this helps you a bit ?? As always, this is my take on it.....personal hearing, etc may lead someone to choose something else.

All the best,
Tony.

I have the waterproof Grey Ghosts on my waterproofed Sov. and they are very good!

I got my Gray Ghosts, and the first thing I noticed was a louder, and higher tone.

I think because of the higher tone, it seems to be an improvement in detection. There is definately an enhancement in teh audio quality.

On iron, the low tone is still low, but not as low as before. It won't take a long time to 're-learn' anything you have already learned.

My stock headphones would sometimes get turned out, or pop out when adjusting. This is why I hated mine. Now with the Gray Ghosts, they fold up nice when transporting, and also have a better fit. They are built a little more solid than the stock phones. I can also wear only 1 side of the phones more comfortably. You know, when detecting with someone else, and you are talking. (I hate when that happens.)

Did I fail to mention that they are removeable now?

Just don't lend your machine out to anyone, unless it's already put together and ready to hunt. You don't want your 'friend' to accidentally plug the battery pod to the headphone jack.

Thanks for the replies guys, for sure the stock phones work but they are huge, and come apart a bit too often. I have Grey Ghost for my GQA2 and they are just excellent quality. Mind you, the best responses I get with my X2Pro are with fisherphones (150 Ohms). these are better than my Timberwolves on deep faint stuff. Gotta be pricey having the Grey Ghosts hardwired in or the Excal converted for change over. Being able to put on spares would be nice when travelling though. Sure looks worthwhile to me.
