anyone have info on this military buckle???

Dug this buckle today. It came out of the ground looking like this after a quick rinse with just water.

Is it common? rare? valuable?

Any info regarding its age, war etc etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Tony

Never seen a buckle like that, but it looks to be the right size for a cap...I just have never seen one with a back like that...

HH,

I don't think it is a button. Looks like a decorative item,,for who knows what?? It a good find for sure . It is old from the looks of it.

Funny, that buckle was ID'd on another forum yesterday..

It's an early 1900's - WWI "Great Seal" pattern U.S. cavalry bridle rosette

I posted it there too, unless there is yet another one shown somewhere else.

Never having seen one before, i thought it was small for a belt buckle but large for a uniform button.

I am sure glad it was able to be ID'd !
