I am on a tight budget and need an inexpensive pinpointer, the place where I got my detector said they will sell me a fisher pinpointer for 39 bucks shipped, and that fits my budget, does anyone here use it?

The F-Point? I got one with my F-75 and have been using it for 9 months or so. I actually like it and use it in preference over my Merlin SXL Pro (which is a "fancier" pinpointer).

Only thing I don't like about it is every time you turn it on you have to adjust the sensitivity - which only takes two seconds but a push-button momantary on would be an improvement. I guess then you know it's always where it needs to be.

IMHO it's worth $40.

When you put the battery in put the 9V in the cap with the narrow edges against the "ears". That makes it a VERY tight fit. There have been complaints that the cap pops off and that will solve it. But you'll have to pry the cap off with a screwdriver or putty knife once a year to replace the battery.

Yeah. About that. 3/4" to 1"

Just for giggles I went out in the garage just now and did some air tests.

2000 Washington quarter - flat 1-1/8", edge on 1/4"

1998 Jefferson nickel - flat 1", edge on 1/4"

1996 Roosevelt dime - flat 3/4", edge on 1/8"

14K gold wedding ring - flat 1-1/8", edge on 1/2"

The tip seems to read about the same in front or off to the side (which is good).

got it already today, man he ships fast!!!!

and the cap does not stay on at all like you mentioned, I wrapped a piece of tape around it, problem solved

Put the battery in the cap first so it presses on the tabs and it will keep them snug when slipped inside the handle. Woiks like a charm. My cap has never popped off accidentally.
