I'm talking about the 2510F-XS 12v NiMH 2500mah MINELAB SOVEREIGN XS battery pack made by MAXXPACKS Sovereign NiMH battery pack If so did you install in the OEM reachable pack or the alkaline pack & how involved was it?
My Sovereign GT battery pack after 8 years is bad, I use their NiMH battery pack and their charger for all my Excals and love them. i'm just looking to find out about their use and install in the Sovereign GT
Thanks!

Nope, but can see a problem right off. Dimension's! Dia: 0.57 is O.k you have 0.66 available in battery holder. length 4.00 maybe O.k if you want to break out the little tabs inside this will give you 4.20". Width is where there is no way- 2.80" and at the most you have inside is 2.57" otherwise would maybe a good option. Another idea would be take it to batteries plus or another local battery store and let them rebuild it for you with a higher mah rated batteries like already installed. Hope this helps.

I got my 2 here: http://store.batteryspecialists.com/2500minelab.html
It works and fits just fine. 20+ hours easy! Comes with Tenergy smart charger.

My Sov XS has a Plugger CF straight shaft, S-12 coil, and XS-2 meter... small world.

Edit... My bad, just saw you have a GT.

and you installed it in the Sovereign's Ni-Cd rechargeable batter case? Any tricks to getting the battery case apart?

thanks for the info:clapping:

I tried to do one once and got it apart just fine as it slides open like the alkaline pack does, but has silicon holding it from sliding open and had to work with it a little to get it to slide open. Now the 10 batteries are not the AA batteries you would think that is there and it also has a circuit board in there too for the charging. The batteries are short and fat and are soldered together and a pack like you want to use will not fit and found the correct batteries on the Internet and will have to be soldered together as they do have some leads on them, but are long and wider so they have to be shortened to fit. The problem was trying to solder them together as getting them hot enough to join them with out hurting the batteries. I did get them soldered together and check it out and it worked, so getting them back in the case I run into a problem getting the door to close and when I did get it close to closing something shorted out being the leads were too long and something shorted out and the batteries started to get hot and started on fire in a mater of seconds. The circuit board is fried and the case it melted hole in it. If a person could get the batteries soldered together with the correct ones with the right length of connectors and not the AA as they will not fit and you may get it to work, but the 10 batteries were around $35 I believe and does take a bit of work to do and like me it maybe just all wasted.
Could try like interstate battery or Battery plus and see if they could make a pack too, that is if they could.

Thanks for the reply's Rick & Joe I will investigate more. I know one thing, I won't be paying the price Minelab want for the OEM Ni-Cd rechargeable battery pack.

Like I said... I have an XS, not a GT. so that battery pack may not fit.

Take a look here... This guy has put in a LiPo battery. It might be an option.

I would call the folks a Maxxpacks and see if they might install new batteries in you Sovereign GT rechargeable Pack. Nothing ventured nothing gained. I like their charge for the Excalibur.

What George said... That is a great idea.
