anyone know what number gold coins hit?

I just want to know because I found a 2 cent piece and 1844 half dime.I know there is a lot more coins maybe gold so I want to know what number they come in at.I notch out all but 12-15 and 30 to 40.I have heard they are made of more pure gold and that is why they don't hit in the lower numbers like rings do and they come in in the 30s but does anyone know this.I run all metal so does anyone know what they hit at maybe 2 1/2 or 5$ pieces thanks

Hey CroakerSmoker,
The only gold I have found was a gold grill that you can put in and take out of your mouth to decorate your front teeth. I was about 1.5 inches long and rang up at 10-11. It was about 2-3 inches down.
Sorry, best I can do for you.
Good Luck,
Bunker

A small 22k target hit at 15 for me.
A small 12k...... 18

Still lookin for the goild coin. Hope to post that soon.:detecting:

Maybe just go to a local coin shop and ask to scan one of their gold coins, and then you could even try a variety of types of gold coins. Just a thought
Good luck with the search it sounds like your in the right time period with your other finds.

Hi guys, my old man found a half sovereign minted in Melbourne 1886 and it rings in on my Safari at 16.

My grandpa had an old solid gold coin 1/2 ounce. It was an award he won in a frame. I removed it from the frame and air tested it. Keep in mind this is solid gold. To my disappointment in rang in at a 32-33 the same as a zinc penny...crap.

Found a 1/4 oz gold coin.
Rang up a solid 38.

i have a $5 gold piece, air tested at a solid 30.
