Anyone notice how slow this forum has gotten since it was split?

Sign says no dogs allowed. Nothing to do with metal detecting.:clapping: Good luck on your hunt and don't let a little rain stop you. I have hunted many a times in the rain. Don't have to worry about too many people bugging you in the rain and especially those that ask the dumbest question,"what are you doing"? HH.

My SE is not waterproof so when it starts raining I get paranoid. I have read where people just put a shopping bag around the control box and still keep swinging but I do not feel comfortable with that. One drop of water gets inside the housing and POOF, there goes my SE.

They are around $15 and when you put it on the detector, no water is going to get inside it. Maybe a little condensation but that is only when its humid out. Good Luck and HH.

I have a cover on it but didn't know if was for rain. I thought it was just for dust and keeping the housing scratch-proof. That's good to know.

Now you know the other half of the story! :) I've always used covers to and they sure keep your control housing protected & in "mint" condition.--I'm with you though, whenever it starts sprinkling, I tell the wife--"let's head for the car".--The biggest thing I don't like about covers is the glare but I use 'em anyway.-----Del

The glare is horrible! When ever I get off my duff I am going to make a little screen around the housing to keep out the sun. I have seen someone on here explain it using plastic notebook material and some Velcro.

I also put some black electrical tape around the seam of my XS cover and housing and the slots on the bottom of the housing unit. Had some trouble with a little fogging on the inside of my screen and probably due to the humidity, but haven't had a problem since I put the tape on there.

I am only 1 of the seasoned hunters here that know their machine so I can't take all the credit, some others like Chris(SoCenWI), Bryce(IL), and Mike Moutray to name a few that make very nice finds when they get out as well. In fact, Mike Moutray is most likely the KING here on the forum due to the vast amounts of finds he use to post here a few years ago. That guy truly is AWESOME when he gets out and does road trippin'. So, I'll try my best to get out but this weekend really looks bad with lots of rain so I am hoping that the radar shows me a spot in the morning where I can go detecting at with minimal showers. But I will try and make some finds weather permitting Phil. Good Luck and HH.
