Anyone Own A Lesche Piranah Or Raven

I was out detecting a few weeks ago with MaynardG and he bought himself a nice WW shovel. We were detecting an old road that had fairly loose stone and man that really came in handy. I guess you would say his was "new old stock" and it was the last one the store had. I've been in a few places where I wished that I had something a little more significant than my favorite digger.

I like how the blade of the Piranah is tapered as opposed to the Raven being pretty straight down to where the point starts.

Just curious if anyone had either of these shovels and what kind of feedback you could offer.

I have the Raven and it's great. Can dig a better plug with it than a Lesche, since basically it is a double wide lesche with a long handle.

I have the Sampson and it has quickly become my favorite digging tool. Anything that reads more than 4 inches I use the Sampson. It cuts like butter and removes alot of dirt from the hole compared to my hand held Lesche. I wish the blade were a tad longer though to cut a deeper plug.

I've decided to order the Piranah. I was really torn between the Raven and the Piranah. I don't doubt that they are both good but the tapered blade on the Piranah was the selling point for me. Surprisingly I received an email from George Lesche and it's going to ship today. That's fast service.

Maybe I'll update the post once I've had a chance to use it.

Good luck with your new digger anything that Lesche makes is quailty....I personally use the Samson with a "custom extended handle" & the new Raptor also....there is nothing better then their line of digging tools....good luck out there!

I have one of their older models. They are pricey but, thankfully you'll probably never need to buy again.

just curious how you carry it? does it have some sort of sheath? also do you use it in parks?thanks
