Anyone still using the Vista Smart?

Yes :), in some countries in Europe Vista SMART is more popular than Vista GOLD :)

I second that.
Here in Holland the Vista Smart is way more popular than the Vista Gold.

I've been using the Vista Smart for about 10 months now.
Haven't used my XP GMP and Golden Mask since, in fact I've got rid of the XP. The Smart is at least just as fast, but has more depth, clearer tones and is more stable, even at full sens plus booster on.
I have also tested the Smart in the field against the Deus (comparing the weak signals) and the Smart came out as a clear winner here.
Test was done on mediocre mineralised river clay, (GB on 2 o'clock position). Smart with the standard elliptical coil and the Deus with the standard 9 inch coil.
My Smart got all the weak Deus signals without a problem, while the Deus was struggling with the weak Smart signals and couldn't detect a few at all, no matter what the Deus user tried. These turned out to be all deep targets; a small musketbal, few pieces of undefined bronze and a small tudor button. All at 25+ cm.
I know detectorists who got themself a Vista Smart to use as a solid back up for their Deus or Etrac, but use it as their main detector now.
Ofcourse, it doesn't look flashy, has no bells & whistles, build quality could be a bit better, can only discriminate iron, has no iron volume but it does the job better than most other detectors. In a 'simple' straighforward way.
