I mainly use the vaquero and the compadre,,, I like to have one ear in the phones and one listening for any background noise around me.. so far the killer B stingers are the only single ear phones I could find but despite brand I'm more curious about comfort with my medium to large size ears, cord length for putting the machine down next to me and sound..

thanks

Hi Tajue

I have big ears and the Killer B's Stinger works for me. They have nice sound reproduction and have a long enough cord to stand up while the detector is on the ground. I bought these for summer use so I could switch sides when one ear got too hot, they would be just the ticket in the hood, deep woods, rattle snake country etc. If there is a lot of ambient noise like traffic or wave action at the beach, it would be a problem with only one ear cup to block out sound. I like them and it comes with a leather ear cup like all killer B's.

the killer bees sound is far better than the gray gost in my opinion,

I read an article just within the last couple of weeks about the snakes. Evidently the Ferrell hogs love to eat snakes. The hog population has exploded all over the country with the highest population being in Texas. The article was about the fact that the snakes have adapted to the evasive non-indigenous Ferrell hog in a way for the them (snakes) to survive longer. THEY HAVE STOPPED RATTLING!!. Several ranches in South Texas have witness rattle snakes that won't rattle anymore...they just strike. If this is true....(and I believe it probably since I live in Texas and know the Ferrell hog)...then its not a good thing. Possibly the snakes that have habitat in the more urban areas might not be affected by this....but I wouldn't trust every snake to rattle from now on!! FYI

thaank you everyone for the posts,,,, Danrum,, your 100% correct about then hogs eating the snakes... I bowhunt so I went hog hunting down in SC ,well being form Boston nobody told me to bring snake boots but when I got there the guide said don't worry because the hogs love to eat the snakes and we haven't seen any in while! it worked out for me until I talked with other hunters who said well the cottonmouths don't rattle and sometimes the rattlers don't rattle so watch the big flat rocks and don't step over any logs that are in the sun, they try to escape first now and will attack on the run with no rattling.

Hombre,, I never thought about the background noise with one ear open,, do the killer B stingers have a volume control?

Yes, the Stinger has volume control, I run the volume full throttle because of my bad hearing. My wife, with her Deleon, the Stingers are her favorite headphones. She has good hearing and turns down the volume, she likes them mainly because they are lite and they don't mess up her hair.
