Anyone use the D-2 coil on their MXT,,,

I just got one, but with snow on the ground and some more coming in,
It looks like a while before I get to use it.

Hi BJ from OK. Which DD are you refering to? I have a 6 X 10 DD Eclipse which I use as my main coil now. The DD coils to most on here are the Superman of coils (IMHO).
Matter of fact I'm going up to KellyCo this AM and getting another MXT as back-up and another 6 X 10 to go with it. Haven't seen any snow here yet (and most likely wont here in centeral FL). Hey stay warm man. It is in the lower 40's here this AM tho. Good luck with that 2D when you do get out. HH KC

....I just bought a D-2 this past October to use for the DIV events held in Central VA. It seemed to work pretty good, found a .58 minnie ball in approximately 12" of 'hot' highly mineralized ground. Still want to see how I do with it next March for the upcoming DIV though. I'd like to get some more good use out of it to really know if I love it or not. Like you, the horrible cold and snow is keeping me inside lately.

I meant the D-2 DD 10" round coil..
I have heard the the 10" round might be a inch or so deeper than the 6 x10" DD coil...
Some like the 6x10 better because of the solid bottom.
While your looking at a new MXT, look at their 8" X 6" SEF coil...For the MXT.
I have heard good things about that coil..

Sounds like your D-2 did good in that hot ground.
I have not run across any hot ground here, our ground reads like 50 to 65 on the MXT.
I may have to try one of those 8" X 6" SEF coils.
The 5.3 coil will be my main coil 85% of the time, but I wanted the D-2 for the open areas.

Hi BJ, I just got a D2, traded my 6x10 for it hope i didn,t make a mistake. I am going to Arizona next week to try it on gold. I didn't know i was going till i already traded. I know the 6x10 is very good on gold, so i will let you know what it dose out there. Might make a grate coil. HH Flintstone YAB-DAB-DO

I have heard the 4x6 is a good little coil when looking for gold.

I haven't used the D2, but have read many comments on it in this and other forums. Some claim considerable more depth over the 6X10 and others say not that much. One poster that has a lot of experience said the difference wasn't enough to buy one if you already have the 6X10 and also mentioned the open coil design as being a pain when used in heavy grass or brush areas. I use the 6X10 for the majority of my hunting with the MXT and IMHO it is the best ALL AROUND general purpose coil currently available. However, my motto is "If you like it, use it" so I don't really have an axe to grind with those that don't agree and think the D2 is the cat's meow.

Hi Don I am from Pa also. I live in mcconellsburg not far from gettysburg. I have been detecting for civil war relics since 1991 and have had alot of machines my first was a whites 5900 good machine then a whites 6000 di pro and a eagle spectrum. The best I have owned is the fisher 1266x it ate minnieballs but small brass was not one of it's strong points. I purchased a fisher f70 and had it for a week really wasn't happy. So now I purchased a tesoro vaquero and doing research I have never seen so many positive reviews about a detector in my life. So here is my question being a solid relic hunter like yourself and the soil being about the same in this area as yours. What are some good settings for her? I want to go deep as possible but kill the nails. Thanks jeff
