Anyone use.....

I don't. I like being able to switch frequencies and see the TIDs change.

At first I thought I would need ID Norm because I've always used the feature on my other two detectors...but as it turns out, just like DukeOBass points out, it's very useful to see the TIDs change on a target when you switch freqs....for me predominantly to identify bottlecaps and other irony junk. Discussed somewhat here: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?83,2069438

My other reason for not using it is because ID Norm normalizes TIDs for the 18Khz frequency, which I don't care for....all the "good" TIDs for me are compressed into the high 80s and most of the 90s. I like how 4Khz spreads the TIDs out...that's because that's what I'm accustomed to. Hopefully XP will allow ID Norm to be configurable in a future software update.

Not me. What DukeOBass and beepsilver said! If you have 2 favorite programs (I use 4 kHz and 12 kHz and have them programmed adjacent to each other) and consistently flip btw the two you will very quickly learn how targets correlate. And when you're not in a "dig it all mood", seeing 2 values that don't correlate as expected signals something "different" (not always good! :) ) that might be worth digging. Most pop top tabs have a very consistent correlation btw 4 kHz and 12 kHz in one of my parks, and when I see that 12 kHz value off from where I expect it, I always dig. That got me a shallow buffalo (date too worn) yesterday when the 4 kHz signal came in higher than usual, but the 12 kHz came in lower than the tab I was expecting to see.

This is very true. I forgot to mention that one. I've dug some good deep targets that the sound was good on.

The BEST Targets are the one's that are a repeatable whisper, with NO TID readings!

It seems that before V 3 everyone was complaning about not having ID norm and now no one uses it.

I would use it if it would 'Norm" to 4K

It would be better at 4k target values. Much easier to tell what your target would be.

I never used it, but would try if it was 4 or 8 even I think.....

How about those VDI charts around, divided by freq, how accurate are they for you guys?

They get ya in the "Ball Park" but your readings will be a little different with soil conditions, and mineral content. I rely on the tones more than the numbers. I had a bad habit of checking the numbers a lot,so I started using the Deus with the control pad in my pocket. I was really surprised when I tried this,as I picked out a lot more good targets, than I thought I would,by the sound of the signals.

I created my own TID chart from coins in my possession in all frequencies. I can say that some of the charts I've seen are quite accurate.

I started out with the Deus on Norm ID. After using the Deus without norm ID I think I will keep it off. I would rather have my ID's read lower on silver coins than higher and closer to the iron wraparound.
