Anyone: Using a 100kHz unit, how does it react to bottlecaps? :smoke:

I know the bc's are a steel alloy and I never tried it on one back in the day.
Does the trick just work on nails and smaller? At what size is a mass of iron accepted?

If I recall, if the bottle cap was fresh, I think it would give a signal. But if it were rusty and corroding, then it wouldn't.

As far as the rest of your question: Yes, the see-through trick (and nulling over iron) worked only @ smaller iron. Like individual nails. Larger iron, like a RR spike sized item, or cast-iron fragments @ domino-sized and larger, would start to beep. But to a trained ear, you could often still ID those larger iron items. Because there would be a momentary null on the leading edge of target.
