April Totals Using The VX9 - I'm Impressed!

The Vortex has always proved to be a great coin vacuum since day one. Here's my totals for April. My plan is to purchase a gold coin or nugget at the end of the year with my $$$ totals. It's an annual tradition going back many, many years.

I found my first silver coin in April.....several inches down. It registered in the high 80's, high tone which of course is a "must" to dig.

On one of my days prospecting for gold using my highbanker, I brought along the VORTEX and spent some time swinging my coil over the gravels in the North Saskatchewan River. I got a broken signal in the 60's and dug down about 12 inches to get this old vintage home made fishing sinker. The mineralization in the gravel and hot rocks don't very often give an accurate signal. representing what it actually is. You have to dig a lot of junk to find decent keepers. The gold showing is very fine flour gold, maybe worth 40-50 dollars. It's about 22K in it's natural state.

Here are the rings so far this year. One was found in the river, the rest were dug up in parks.

It will be interesting to see what the price of gold will be later on this year.

Nice finds, wish we had some good spots to gold pan in Texas.
A lot of rivers, streams and creeks do have at least small amounts of gold in them. There's not a lot of money to be made, but it is fun to try and capture it in a gold pan......a very cheap investment. I did a quick search with Google for gold in Texas. This is what I got.

"Yes, there are gold-bearing streams in Texas, particularly in Central and West Texas The Llano River and areas bordering the Rio Grande are notable for gold deposits. While gold finds in Texas are not as abundant as in some other states, there are specific locations known for higher concentrations of minerals and precious metals, including Bull Head Creek, Honey Creek, and others. Panning and prospecting are popular activities in these areas."
