Are the Coils Waterproof?

Beachcomber

New member
I haven't checked the manual yet but have read most everything else about the Exterra 50 so far but no where has it been mentioned whether the coils are waterproof. Since the only detectors in the Minelab line that have waterproof coils so far are the Sovs, Explorer and Quattro I thought I should ask before plunking out $600!

Don't live close to any salt water any more so I can't comment on that but I have ran the coil in shallow fresh water along the lake's edge for a few minutes... no falsing whatsoever and I found a clad dime and a cigarette lighter in that short time.
This machine has been very stable so far and I've been primarily hunting in real hot dirt.
We have a MXT in the family and I also hunt with a X-5, a Tejon, and a Advantage.
The X-Terra doesn't take a back seat to any of these and in "My Opinion" it's a SMARTER detector. It has the depth, it's stable, tones are easy to understand and it recovers very quick. Another thing that I really like about it is the LED display is LARGE and ever so easy to see in any kind of sunlight .. even when the sun is shining directly on the screen.
Ya'll folks are going to love this detector and I seriously DOUBT very many will hit the FOR SALE part of the classifieds either :)
