This was my 5th hunt with the E-Trac today and I went out with the intention of just digging deeper targets. I didn't dig anything that was lower than the halfway point on the depth meter. Today, I dug the following measured (with my Lesche) targets:
6" deep aluminum disc (dime sized) with an rusted iron ring attached.
2 coins at 6" - 1962 ish
1 coin at 7" - 1963
1 small silver medallion at 8"
1 quarter sized but thicker medal at 9" dated 1926
Most of the targets were around other targets. The short (just under 2 mins) edited video below had another coin that I dug 6" off to the side of the silver medallion and also had iron and other metals under and next to the target (I checked after retrieval).
Are you guys and gals often digging such deep targets? As I said above I was only digging deeper signals that I thought were coins. I dug the above, along with less than the same amount of trash items in around 4 hours and worked fairly slow to medium speed. (But note, I walked over many many shallower coins.) I played with fast off but trash high settings today (and deep on). I think fast off made it easier to pick out the deeper targets and still picked them out of trash. Do you notice that you still get good separation at depth with these settings? Signals were noticeably longer as well (I run normal audio response).
I ran the minimal disc pattern for a while looking for bounces down to that 27 area but it was a headache with the trash level so I moved to a slightly modified coin program in trashier spots. It was fine in cleaner areas. I did hear the "thunk" sound on one deeper target and then it stopped and I couldn't get it on film running auto sensitivity. When in auto it ran at 26-29 and so I often ran manual at 30 - was a little noisy but not bad at all, just had to check for iron falses.
I video'd all the above for when the ground is frozen but it's starting to get old filming the 6" - 8" finds, thanks for bearing with me! Looking for that 12" deep silver...
Thanks,
Albert
