I know these are not metal finds but I can't find anyone who can help I have contacted museum's and university's by phone and email and can't get any responce and have been trying for a while now I inherited quite a few artifacts and have no idea what they are if someone can point me in the right direction I assume Meso American or pre Columian but not sure also lots of American Indian pieces arrowheads, beads, pipes, war clubs, baskets on and on. Thanks

A knowledgeable friend tells me- "It does look very Meso American but I don't have a clue as to purpose."

Noone will give you an answer without seeing and testing the items...They may tell you what it is supposed to be, but probably will not give you a date on it...

HH,

I'd be happy to show someone if I could get ahold of them I talked to someone today at the Nelson Atkins museum in Kansas city, MO. and sent them an email with several pictures they may call me back but it's the same routine I've gone through with several others the last was the museum on the sixth floor of the Denver airport if you know someone let me know.

The origin of the items is important. When and where obtaied. There's an awful lot of pseudo-meso American junk out there being sold as originals.

The problem with museums is that they need all of the above and then some in order to prove things. Short of chemical pottery analysis and other sophiticated investigations it's dificult to prove the origin and import of these kind of items. Often once taken out of situ they quickly lose their value as they are transported and removed from the origination point and all historical context is lost.

You may have items of extreme rarity and import but proving it will be a long uphill challenge...

Good luck...
