As an "End-User", here are some Goldquest finds during our winter.

Just thought I'd post some finds during winter down-under....maybe balances out the "theory" posts a bit.
The larger rings (left) are 18kt. The smaller ones are 9kt.
The bracelet is very similar to one I found earlier this year, except this one is 18kt white gold. It's around the 30gram weight.
All the rings on the right are .925 Sterling Silver.
The watch is a nice Stainless Steel waterproof model. It must have been lost the day I found it as it is flawless.
Probably managed to find about $200 in coins during the earlier winter storms (May/June).
Roll on summer....it's going to be a Goldquest feast <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

The gold looks brand new! The watch too.
I'm trying to decide which PI that I can afford to buy that will produce finds like that here in the USA. Where I live here in Washington State, I have some nasty black sand(and big deposits of it) that I'd like to conquer.
Hope your summer goes well with lots of gold in it! -Bill/Wa.

Bill,
Gold...it always looks brand new !! <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
That's what I love about it.
You'll get plenty of advice regarding your black sands and how to best deal with it. As for down here, well the sands are mainly coral based.
Choosing a PI detector.....well that's the easy bit......... <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
Hope your fast approaching winter isn't too bad, it's a great time to detect during the earlier storms.
Regards,
Tony. <IMG SRC="/metal/html/ausflag.jpg" BORDER=0 width=32 height=17 ALT="au~">

I was at Miami Beach and got chased out by Frances...decided to head to Gulf Shores to escape it....Bad decision again....Frances was after us. Drove to Chattanooga to get away...soit rained on us 10 inches worth. I did find some gold rings and some silver in Miami and wife found a nice 14K man's with 5 nice diamonds in it. Couple of watches and toe rings...but had to leave. Back here in Tennessee and in several beach area's have found several rings. Bill is telling me the DD coil is better and the GQ SS V2 is even better on bad ground.....How can you improve on a detector like the Goldquest SS, I would think only a self-digging scoop would only be the way...Yep! Still swinging the GQ and thinking about the waterproof one...Bet your tearing them up....Frank

Frank,
Glad to hear to you're well and the gold has been coming in.
Yep, you guys have been doing it tough with the beatings one after another, hopefully all that weather is behind you now.
Just like you, I am eying up a second PI detector, this one solely for the dry/wet sand....no guesses who it will be coming from. <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">
I've done a moderate amount of winter hunting, usually after a good cold front has been through and some sand taken off the beach.....got some good rings and loads of coins. Summer is just around the corner and it will be comprised of some intense metal detecting, especially in the water.
Take care,
Tony.
