Assistance needed on settings

I am in need of some assistance. I have had my Deus for over a year now. I have figured out most things but still would appreciate some input. I dig in central VA, where there is some pretty mineralized soils. It is not always a problem but in some cases, I cannot even get a signal on a definite find. My digging partner uses a White's TDI. I know these are two different types of detectors but we still can get readings over the targets. However, the last time we went out we found a spot with a dozen dropped bullets. He would get a clear signal but my Deus would not pick up anything. The land was a hay field with thick roots and wet mud underneath. The bullets were about 8 inches deep. I have the updated programs on my detector plus a couple of custom programs put on by a friend. None of the programs would pick up the signals in this field. My question basically is, what do I need to tweak to zone in on these targets? Is it discrimination, or frequency that would give me depth and accuracy? The programs I use all have varying settings in both those categories.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think folks are going to need your starting settings in order to gauge what may be going on or how to change it...

Try the pinpointer if you haven't already. If that won't pick them up there is a problem.

If you're asking how you can setup your Deus VLF detector to detect Civil War relics (like bullets) as deeply as a Pulse Induction machine in some of Virginia's harshest mineralized ground...
the simple answer is, "You can't."

There will always be bad ground like that...where no VLF can quite compare to a good PI detector...that's where the PI shines.
Just ask DIV (Diggin' in Virginia) participants what gets the job done, and they'll typically point out all the Minelab PI machines.

You can optimize your machine, and try higher Sens...lower reactivity...different frequencies...careful GB...on site. Things like that. And it will help.
There is plenty of advice already on the forums and YouTube about this very thing. I'm sure you'll get plenty of helpful advice here.

Don't forget to actually test the different settings (especially frequencies) in your ground...don't just blindly copy someones favorite settings. :)

Just be aware that the PI will usually go deeper in harsh mineralization. (Sometimes LOTS deeper in that red clay of VA) That's just the PI's 'super power'.
