Got some excellent results using the AT Gold in the woods today. On the way home, I stopped at a soccer field which I have hunted 3-4 times this past summer. i was curious how that 5" x 8" coil would perform on common coins. Well, it found a nice batch of coins. That new coil is a welcomed coil to the Garrett line. It's bigger then the 4.5" sniper coil, and a DD too. Great for superb target separation.

i guess you have not used the gold enough to make a comparison with the pro,, coinhunting. after you make a few more trips afield with,, how about giving your opinion, between the two.

Well so far, the AT Gold with the 5" x 8" coil can be whipped back and forth very fast and still get those nice high tones in Disc1 and Disk 2. Using a true all metal mode takes the AT Gold to a higher level, as the sensitivity and depth will be an improvement over the AT Pro. Also, getting iron discrimination in a true all metal mode plus a VDI number makes this new unit very exceptional. Having an adjustable threshold adds a good confidence builder when learning this machine. It is also crucial to have when searching for tiny gold nuggets.

Nice hunt!Thanks for sharing the experience with the new machine. So, that's a "True All Metal" motion mode. Interesting. Quite different from any of the previous Garrett non-motion "All Metal Mode". I really like the way it shows the target ID in "True All Metal" like the old GTI and GMH. I'm gonna have to check that out. My Scorps and GTI are toast. Burned up in the shed down here in the fires in Texas.

That's really awful......we become so attached to our machines that we actual grieve them in situations like yours. I hope your looses were minimal and you are back cruising on both your feet. Let me know if I can be of any help. If by chance you need to borrow a machine, let me know.

Thanks, You guys are awesome. We're just fine. That's one of our rent houses that got the damage from the fires. I had kept a few of my detectors and stuff out there in a storage shed. Everybody is fine, thank goodness. The renters were evacuated in time and are safe and sound.
What's really a shame is that I had most (all but one) of my old classic detectors stored there as well. BFO and VLF/TR. They can't be replaced because they're not made anymore. I just so happened to have my original fully functional 1964 Hunter in the RV with us as a conversation piece. We're full time RVers and we're chillin' down by the Gulf Coast no where near the fires. I've got plenty of detectors to keep me occupied. I sincerely appreciate you guys offering to let me borrow. I'm blessed to have my Garrett brothers.

Sad to hear about the loss of your old 'tectors but glad to hear you still have some serviceable units to use. From the sound of your post, I thought you had none and I just couldn't imagine not having ANY detectors to use. Good luck on the Coast, wish I was there. Will be in October...yeehaw!!
