At gold ground balance

Hey just wondering if you guys ground balance only in all metal mode or in disc modes as well? I usually hunt in disc 1 but ground balance in all metal to make sure the ground is clean of metal. Does it make a difference? My ground balance seems to be all over the place up and down. Just noticing this lately and my machine has been falsing alot on small iron even with iron disc set up to 38. I've done all the regular checks I know to do like reset , check connections and batteries. This is happening in the same ground I've hunted over a year with great success . Maybe something is wrong? I was finding the same, with lots of bedrock at the surface and just under, in all metal and disc 1 I always try to maintain GB. Especially with the mix of heavy iron and in other close areas crops of granite then limestone, bit of a mix in these parts. Seems to work for me, and I see where others don't. Maybe it's a passing phase I've yet to get too, lol, probably is, all about learning the tone! That's what I seem to see with the veterans of md-in.
