at max test on extra small gold nuggets and extra fine thin gold chain

Just wondering if anybody's had a chance to test the at
Max on very small gold nuggets and very fine small gold chains?
 
Yes.....it will pick up tiny pieces of gold. As far as tiny chains go, all metal detectors have difficulty picking up tiny chains. If there is a tiny loop on the chain, it will pick it up. If the chain itself is looped, it will pick it up. However, a straight tiny chain does not offer a lot of flat surface area to allow deflection of signal back to the coil, so it will be very difficult to pick it up.
 
John, thanks for the chart.. Woke me up to a couple of things.
 
The mid frequency kills the AT range for small low conductors, it may air test them a x depth, but in ground it will be a different case.
Higher frequency or better still multi freq detectors will perform much better in every scenario.
 
Frequency has nothing to do with how a machine sees a metals content. Frequency hasto do with a machines ability to pick up smaller or larger objects...higher the frequency the smaller the targets you’ll find,,lower the frequency the better it’ll respond to larger targets....multi frequency has nothing to do with how well a machine reads a tiny small nugget,only the highest frequency would see it and any low frequencies running would be blind to the small piece of gold..multi frequency plays no part in it unless they’re all high.
 
Of course multi freq counts when looking for low conductors, simply because it filters the ground minerals better than a single freq to see the target better. Thats why it is one of the few non PI detectors used in the gold fields in Australia for nuggets.
