AT Max

Why and what kind of metal detecting do you do? Coin shooting, jewelry, water hunting, relic hunting, search for deep targets, hunt in highly mineralized soil. Sometimes, just a new coil purchase will give you better results and sometimes moving to a different detector will give you better results.....it just depends:shrug:

It has a few nice, new features as you probably know: the wireless headphones -without an external box-, larger number -for us with poor sight-, better saltwater operation, nicer hand grip. This plus it will come with a new learning curve. "Knowing" a specific detector will make it the "Best" detector. Yet each detector will have its nitch in which it outshines all others. Match the detector you choose to best operate in the location, environmental elements, major type of targets you are searching for, form, fit and function, price, you physical limitations. Then choose accessories that will enhance the one detector you choose Ie coil, headphones, battery, housing cover, different shaft, etc. Of course you could get crazy and own a dozen detectors to choose from.

Which ever way you choose ...

May the ring of gold be in your ears and its glitter in you scoop. Replace scoop with pouch if you are a dirt digger, not a water walker. Enjoy!

Keeping your pro is a good move if that is what you're most comfortable with. There's a lot to be said for how you bond with a detector. The Max has different tones and is more sparky. For some they prefer not to hear as much and it's all good. A person who has bonded with the pro will find more than with the Max if they aren't comfortable with the Max. At the end of the day, having fun is what it's all about.

The increased ground balance window along with manual adjustment is something that doesn't get enough publicity. It really helps in salt water. I have seen too many videos where guys don't know how to take advantage of the manual ground balance and assume it's just a reworked Pro. That is certainly not the case.
