At mode on omega question?

What are the differences or the advantages of using the at mode vs the all metal mode? By that I mean just passing the At mode knob, which is the lowest range I think of 1 in the discriminate mode. Thank you and regards.
 
I don't know that there are any. I like the all metal myself. Seems to get a bit more depth on an iffy target. I switch back and forth on a iffy target to make my decision to dig or not.
