Got out Friday for a few hours to a family friend's property on 2 acres.The property is very close to one of the oldest houses (1727) in my town, so I knew it must have been part of that original farm. I spent the entire time in one part of the backyard and was becoming increasingly discouraged digging clad and unmentionables here, there, and everywhere. Then about a 1/2 hr. before I left, I got a nice hit in the 70s. I honestly thought nothing of it because of the way the day was going, but I was happily surprised to see a very small silver coin pop out from no more than 3 inches down. I immediately saw the seated figure and thought I had my 1st seated dime. Closer inspection revealed that it didn't say "one dime" on the reverse, but "half dime." An 1861 (no mint mark). I also picked up a silver Rosie (1940) a few minutes later close by and some mystery object that looks like a rosette with "...OR" at the top, "...MAN" at the bottom, and a design in the middle (have to clean it further). I only hunted about 20% of the property, so I'm looking forward to return trips, especially the larger front yard. Enjoy and HH.

AT Pro finds a half dime

Thanks, 88junior. I have a question for you if you don't mind: I see you have both a T2 SE (LTD) and an AT Pro. I'm thinking of adding a T2 SE. What are the pros/cons vs. the AT Pro. I hear the T2 SE goes very deep and my complaint with the AT Pro is that, after 6-7 inches, it doesn't do a good job of indicating if a target should or shouldn't be dug, meaning the tones get broken/spotty and the VDI jumps around. Would the T2 be an upgrade in this respect on older properties for finding the deep stuff? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

The T2 SE is a beast on depth in boost mode the vdi is a little bouncy on deeper targets but you can tell by the audio sound it produces whether to dig or not!! Now in heavy iron I believe I am going to have to give the ATP the node it separates targets better with stock coil compared to the T2SE with stock coil but if you put the 5" coil on the T2 it works great separating targets. Both detectors have their pro's and con's I would reccomend you to have both they accommodate each other quite well!!

Congrats on the half dime and Rosie! Stubbornness is an asset in this hobby, isn't it? 
Here where I live, the other regular detectorist uses a T2 SE. And hasn't been able to get the depth that I can with the pro. We've both hunted the same areas, with me bringing home the silver coins. Just saying don't discount your Pro. It can go just as deep as other machines.
