AT Pro Headphones....& other topics

One of my customers (I'm a pharmacist) is senior technical manager at Garrett. I talked to him today and he said that the headphones that come with the AT Pro are land headphones. They are not submersible. BUT the connector IS submersible. Also FYI they are cranking these detectors out as fast as they can. So please be patient. They are absolutely overwhelmed with orders. The major wholesalers (Kellyco, etc.) are there main priority right now. So if you ordered through them you are at the top of the list as far as that goes. One other note, he also told me that He couldn't even get one if he wanted one right now, which says alot about the integrity of him and the company. Most likely this backorder will continue through the holidays and probably into January. Basically what I am saying, let's be patient. This is going to be a great new product from a great company. I have had the privilege to visit the plant several times. I live about 40 miles away from it. I have met several people there and they are just the greatest. From the receptionist at the front and everyone else behind the scenes. So keep swingin' them 250's and hang in there. They'll be here before you know it. Thanks. Jeff

Thanks that is about the same thing as I heard. Jan or after before they get caught up.
I will think you are lucky if you get one before Christmas.

They should be treating all of their dealer network equally and not giving priority to one dealer over other ones. The small local dealers are the backbone of the hobby. They are the ones who do the most to support the hobby as they are the ones who are usually running local clubs and teaching new customers how to detect properly, they are the ones who donate prizes to the forums such as findmall and to club hunts. Giving priority to the big internet companies is going to help drive the small local dealers out of business and it will be a loss to the hobby if they do go out of business. If someone from Garrett reads this I hope Garrett come to its senses. The pre-orders should be dealt with on a proportional bases - such as filling 10% of all order no matter where they came from the first pass, then do a second 10% and so on. You shouldn't get penalized for support a local business instead of buying from a company 2000 miles away. I'm kind of shocked that Garrett would screw the small local dealers and their customers in favor of Kellyco that don't sound like the way Charlie Garrett would do business.

I agree.

Sir, don't think for a minute that Garrett is pumping these machines to the "big internet companies". They are being EQUALLY distributed to all of the "Wholesale Distributors". Sorry I didn't make that clear. He named off several companies that I haven't a clue who their names are. One of them was Outdoor Outfitters, which services the small local dealers. Don't jump to conclusions like that. If you think for a minute that that is how Garrett does business you are sorely mistaken. They haven't been in business this long to be the best in the business and operate like that. Case in point, No one is being "penalized" and Garrett aint SCREWING the small local dealers in favor of Kellyco. And you are correct sir, Charlie Garrett don't do business like that.

Seems like you forgot what you typed so let me remind you ....

Now it is impossible to give one group, the major wholesalers, priority and to treat everyone EQUALLY at the same time. So which is it? Don't say one thing one minute and then get all snooty the next minute because someone took you at your word.

I'll be so glad when these are out. I'm so sick of the complainers and their negative posts every day. Thanks for the info PharmSearcher.

Thank you for letting us know that Garrett is getting them out to us ASAP. I often wonder WHO got the lowest serial numbered machine

How do you think the small businesses get their product? Through the wholesalers. The phrase Kellyco, etc means Kellyco and "others". I will be more careful how I phrase things in the future. Had no idea I would be picked apart like this.

That is why your post seemed confusing to me, you seemed to be saying that you had inside information that Garrett was conducting business in a way that they hadn't in the past and that didn't fit their reputation. Though I still don't get why you said that anyone was getting priority as Garrett sells to the distributors and not the dealers directly so I don't see how you could have ever said that one group was getting priority.

And pro778 how is it being negative to call into question information that seems out of character for a company like Garrett? His original post made it seem like they had changed their policies away from the way Charlie Garrett has always run that company? It was important to clear up that point.

KellyCo is telling people that they are getting in a big shipment and will be able to take care of all of their pre-orders next week. My local dealer only got one machine for his pre-orders. I guess Garrett is giving priority to the big retailers like KellyCo over the local dealers after all, who'd of thunk they would do a thing like that - guess money talks.

Not really that unusual, another company passes first run
editions through a popular catalog company.
But with MAPs and big internet companies, how would
a small town dealer compete?

sad but true nevertheless ......

Small town dealer needs a website....then, all of a sudden his local company is now a world wide company. Thats what I did. Sold a detector from my website to a guy in Italy 2 weeks ago. So much for that local philosophy.

He has had a website up for years and he is the 2nd or 3rd largest dealer in New England. I bet you have heard of him but he is not a Findmall sponsor any longer so I will play by the rules and not mention his shop's name.
