At pro in water?

Can anyone tell me if the at pro or gold's audio can be heard under water without the use of waterproof headphones? Thanks

Good question......I really don't know? I presume if your head is under water, you should hear it. However, with your head out of the water, and your speaker gurgling away down under, you probably won't hear it.

Usually sound carries pretty well in water for short distances so I my unconfirmed answer would be yes you could hear it. But sound vibrations slow down pretty quick and get distorted under water so " HOW " it might sound is the question.

I took mine down to eight feet deep near a waterfall without headphones and I could hear but not very well. Water is denser than air you can hear better and further but not in this case ,If you can afford it get the earphones I'm going to.
You can see the screen but it is awkward and dark down there. Next time I will take the scuba gear so I can concentrate on the signals too hard free diving up and down you can loose your target easily and have to search again.
