AT Pro or the GTI 2500?

SWV Coin Hunter

New member
I'm going to buy a new detector and its down to these two but I'm not sure which one to buy. Is the 2500 worth the price or is the AT just as good? I have an ACE 350 now but I want something better to use in the areas I hunt that are full of trash as well as being water proof for the few spots I know of that have been used as swimming holes for 75+ years.

I know that many of you have way more experience than I do so I'm depending on you to point me in the right detection. Thanks, God bless and have a merry Christmas!

I have both these detectors and if you want to water hunt, get the At/Pro. I love my GTI-2500 on land and have used it in the water when the river was down with great success. However, if you don't want to worry about frying the circuit board all the time, I prefer the At/Pro.
The At/Pro can find targets in areas so trashy they will make me struggle with the 2500, but I'm not as experienced as some of the older members. Good luck whichever detector you buy and happy hunting.

Well, the Garrett ATP is lower in weight than the GTI 2500. Also, the 2500 is about 16 yrs old, which doesn't mean it is bad of course, just that some of its technology is a bit older than that on the ATP. Even so, the 2500 is still a very capable machine, and has more features than the 2500.

In your case, because you want to also water hunt, you are probably going to want the ATP due to its waterproofness. It also has great target separation.

Wow, I had no idea it was that old but old is not always a bad ting.

So far it looks as though the Pro has it!
