hi guys i have been inquiring on buying and atpro for awhile now and ive been reading some mixed reviews. What do you think i really want to get it is it a good investment?

It doesn't matter what we I think.....if you got the dime and enjoy metal detecting then go for it, and form your own opinion. As far as an "investment" it probably has less down sides than the stock market right now.......

Given the proper (Emphasis) amount of time to learn it, I think you will love it.....if you think you can just turn it on and go out and find half a dozen silver coins in half an hour.....it ain't gonna happen if you can't put the coil over the coins to start with.

Would I buy another one....absolutely without hesitation:thumbup:

[size=large]as you can tell by my signature i have a few and an ATP is on the way. my hunting partner has let me try his out and it does well. i'll need more time to really see if i can handle all the traits. ergonomics, learning ATP speech. i already know once you learn it it finds real well. all the differant machines become personal choices. some folks don't like the sounds. doesn't matter how well they preform. some don't like the feel. if you can use one from someone then do that before you buy. that goes for any machine. otherwise you're in the same boat as others. ya gotta buy to find if it fits you. the pro will find rings and coins and such. i've seen that first hand. it just gets down to whether you like the rest of the machine. even a ace 250 will give you an idea of how the atp will feel. not exact but closest one to it. but as you know, once you buy it it's yours and you'll not get what you paid if it don't fit.

1) It has the standard mode, similar to an ACE 250 and is great for beginners, coin & jewellery hunting yet is deep and sensitive to gold.

2) It has the PRO mode, which is one of the deepest metal detectors (single frequency) available today. It was designed to find deep relics, yet with the 15kHz operating frequency, remains very sensitive to gold targets.

3) It is also water proof to 10 feet, so a quick accidental drop in the water or sudden rain will still keep you in the game. And, as a water machine, opens up a new style of detecting and territory in case you were ever interested without buying another water machine.

4) It's made in USA and costs less then half the price of some of the most expensive single frequency metal detectors which are restricted to land hunting only on non-rainy days.

5) Garrett really backs up their products with excellent customer service. :)

I can't imagine the ATP letting a guy down... unless unlucky gets you 1 that has to be returned.. but thats just a setback...
Imagine if you will a deep no lying fast ace 250 that actually works like they hyped them... with Gb and a few other great features...
My best advice once you get is try to go to a spot you know has at least descent clad targets to get to know it....Learn the sweet spot on the coil for best repeaable signal and best VDI's, then practice a swirl type pinpoint... Also I must recomend not quite overlapping the coil but maybe a little .. more of an end to end type swing.
Also knock it down 2 notches to help avoid false high tones.
When looking for mid tones is a good idea to check again in Progressive mode, let your gut tell you to dig or not.
Every gold I have found was top to 4" and I KNEW I had to dig it..
Same with silver, some times numbers were right on, or a little wierd, but I KNEW to dig it.
Also dig wierd sigs below 6"....1/2 the time rusty iron the other half a keeper.
That's my 2 cents

Wait I forgot 1 thing...Maybe look at buying fro Big Boys Hobbies.... I have got 2 from him and some my friends have too.. Just can't go wrong with them.

I love mine. It paid for itself in about 4 months and then paid for itself again in a month. It is a very enjoyable machine to hunt with and is plenty capable. With a bit of practice you'll find loads of treasure. If you've never used a DD coil you'll need to figure out pinpointing. There are posts and vids on this forum that instruct how to do this easily.

Well worth the price. I use mine primarily as a coin shooter and haven't gotten mine wet yet. John does very well with his in the water which tells me it is capable there as well.
