Sharp eye! I had to use a Lesche to penetrate the sod, its still a little frozen. Once I realized there was a gold chain I used the Buck to gently remove the soil as the chain was stretched out about 9 inches. I keep my Buck knife with me always while hunting. Thanks

You bet! I'll try to remember to post VDIs when I find something unusual. The soil here is highly mineralized, so that might make a little difference in VDI reading as compared to more neutral soils. I set the ground balance in the low 90s. I've also found a slight difference in VDI readings between the 5x8 DD and the 81/2x11, not enough to confuse me, though.
