I wish at the beaches I've been scooping at had some small rocks and stones in the sand to keep the targets from sinking 16"+ inches deep. The sand in SoCal is medium to fine grain, the deeper you scoop, the faster the sand caves in.
How deep do you believe you had to scoop for the deeper targets? So the ATX will pick up the lead in the leaded glass?

John-Edmonton said:I really enjoyed that video. It is rare to see one get those old glass bottles. The video shows clearly, a typical Low High signal, suggesting a silver or copper object, and in your case, you got a silver coin. Your hunt would make for a great article. I have linked you up with the Garrett Webpage for you to consider writing and sending in an article on your hunt. Send lots of high resolution pics of your finds if you can. You may even win an AT Gold.

With all that mud, I would assume that you were in a saltwater back bay, cove, or harbor?
It did look like at least one bottle that you scooped didn't have a stopper. I know a lot of old lead glass had a good amount of lead in it, so it wouldn't surprise me if the ATX could sound on some types of lead glass.
Muscling out those deep target do take a toll on a scoop. I see that you may have tweaked your scoop a bit.
