ATX tones motion mode?

FrankMD

No ATX yet but coming. Question about tones:

I understand iron gives a lo/hi tone, small gold gives a hi/low tone. One question is about gold rings. So a certain size small gold ring will give a hi/low tone. So at some point as the ring size gets larger it will go to a lo/hi tone?

Also what about a steel jacket bullet and a piece of stainless steel? What tone?

For lead. Does lead give a hi/lo if it is very small and goes to a lo/hi as some point as size get larger like for a CW 58 cal bullet (3 ringer)?

Thanks all

I have yet to find a gold ring that gives anything but the Hi-Lo tone with the ATX.
Pennies can give either tone as can lead fishing weights.
Dimes and Quarters are Lo-Hi and Nickles are Hi-Lo tones
Most Stainless steel tone is Hi-Lo, yet some I have found are Lo-Hi
I find if the object can be attracted by a magnet, its tone is Lo-Hi, except for new new bottle caps.

It all has to do with the rate at which the object will accept an induced voltage and the resulting collapsing field is detected by a PI detector.

I have no experience with the ATX and CW bullets, sorry.

I usually dig all targets for no other reason that to clean out the swimming waters our visitors love to frolic in.

Thanks for the reply WaterWalker.

My hunting will be CW relics in Virginia and MD. Also I have a place for natural gold in VA.

I think I will use the iron check. If no grunt then dig.
