It's been a good year and once I got the hang of the Explorer II (previously I used a Garrett GTI2500), things really picked up. These are combined totals from my wife and I (She still uses a GTI2500).

You both did very well! Now you can see how much more powerful the Explorer is against your old Garrett GTI2500 and how much more finds you are making since the change of machines. Aren't you glad that you purchased your Explorer Toby? That is an incredible amount of Change you found during the year. Hope 2008 is just as generous to you both as 2007 was. Good Luck and HH.

I have only found two - 2 cent peices in the last 5 years here in Michigan. Way to go!

Jamie,
I wish these were the same 2 cent pieces you were thinking of, but alas, they are all too common here. These (along with the tiny 1 cent) were made from 1966 to 1991 and then, shortly thereafter, were deemed no longer necessary. They are not legal tender for commerce, but you can still trade them in at the bank, if you have enough to make the trip worthwhile! Today, the 5cent is the lowest denomination currently in circulation.
I wasn't here when they were "killed", but evidently many of them were simply tossed wherever they landed, because they seem to be everywhere. I have probably walked away from more of those signals than I've dug. I'd rather concentrate on the $1 & $2 signals. Maybe that sounds a little like cherry picking but, quite often they are the most plentiful targets! On our best day out, we found just over $103, ( $95 of which was in $1 & $2 coins!) The problem is, the signal they give (01-29, 02-29, and many others!) is in the same range that some other desirables sometimes fall (i.e. older shillings and florins). Usually though, the area your digging in and what you've been finding in that area will tell you some of the story.
