:ausflag:Some Aussie silver

After such a great day yesterday couldn't resist the urge to get out this evening and check out our local sports oval.

Only put in about a hour but managed to pull out a couple of sixpences. They may both look the same but the 1944 one is 92.5% silver while the 1950 is only 50% silver so even though they are the same coin they come up with quite different readings.

Also pulled out a $1 and $2 coin plus a couple of 1 & 2 cents pieces.

Will probably try the local school yard tomorrow

Congrats. Damn, everywhere in the world seems to have more silver than Germany!

Keep up the good finds. Nice to see foreign silver...

OH, and you can go surfing too! (Ex Surfer here, or should I say I can't surf in Germany.)

Take care,
Albert

That's an interesting question.

I placed them on the kitchen scales and the 1944 with 92.5% silver weighed 3 grams while the 1950 with 50% silver came in at 2 grams.

Not sure though if the total difference would be a whole 1 gram as the scales are only accurate to 1 gram increments.
