Australia has a new distributor- yay
The prices are starting to come out- ouch

RRP for a Compadre in Australia: AU$454 or US$323 -are they joking? Roughly twice as much as the price in the US
RRP for a Silver µMax in Australia: AU$556 or US$395 compared to US$254 on Amazon.

I am starting to think that a cheaper way to buy Tesoro in Australia is going to be hopping on a plane and picking them up from the US personally- it wouldn't take many to make it worthwhile. Fortunately I have an US address.

RRP for a Compadre 18 months ago was AU$220. They have gone up over 100% in that time. The Australian dollar is worth US$0.71 which is part of the problem but does not account for this mind boggling price increase.

Same situation here in Canada. Ca $ is worth $0.71 as well.
Shipping to OZ is expensive as well.
Plus import fees

We are both at .71 US$ and yet Australians pay more than twice as much for the same machine. The RRP for a Minelab 505 here is $499 which is a little bit more than a Compadre and a bit less than a SIlver uMax. I like Tesoro, but pricing a Compadre roughly the same as a 505 is out of touch. I guess Tesoro just don't want to sell here.

parsec Tesoro has this mob as the Australian dealer on their website http://goldhunterdetectors.com.au/ they don't even have any Tesoro's listed, where did you get the pricing from can you post up a link?

again trade embargos do not work, never will and well I have a few machines and one of them was bought in Australia.

not to be rude but all this babying of Australian dealers by company's is well like a spit in the face of Australian consumers, its we don't think you are able to think for yourself so we will do it for you, how patronising is that Tesoro been doing it sense Adam was a boy minelab as long as his son, then 1st Texas joined in on the act , Garrett too, again whites the only company in the US with any kahuna's and they probably have the market share of overseas (not minelab) sales in Australia.

again trade sanctions do not work and I will buy where I want when I want from whom I want and not where some company tells me I have too, and I advise all Australian detectorists to do the same !! there is more than one way to skin a cat in 2016.

I have bought 99% of my detectors OS to brake these sanctions as I will not live under a dictatorship and especially a metal detecting company dictatorship really what a joke and an insult to my intelligence.

so buy where you like buy in Australia buy from Turkey , buy from the USA , buy where ever you like, and when company's work out giving people the choice to chose it will end up they will more times than not buy off a local dealer in Australia, but when forced to do so if they are anything like me will go out of their way not to buy of a local dealer, its psych 101 Tesoro , 1st Texas etc...

anyway had my fun for the day and yep my last detector was bought where I could get the best price and it wasn't in Australia

yep sure someone would send one over for me Sven, but don't need any more think I need to shift a few depending on what happens in the next few months on the new detectors coming out but not sure which ones I want to part with

and well people say they want Tesoro's here but they want them for nothing so best off just keeping them they didn't cost to much anyway and they do get used in sequence in a park clean out so hard to part with them but I sure don't need any more

but my main concern is how we do not have choices of who and where we buy if I want to buy from the US or from west of the black stump why is that choice made by some body else sort of sounds like communism to me thought the cold war was to be rid of those things alas seems many ideology's of communism have been adopted by detector company's !!

so I don't buy Australian for just that reason, if they lifted the communism I would probably buy here so well at least for one Aussie the embargos failed and sure I am not Robinson Crusoe in that matter !
