AUTOMAX PRECISION V4 .....Not the Pinpointer for me!

Ok, so now that I have had the Automax for a week and have used it on several hunts. I have to say I am disappointed. (1) it's bulky, (2) seems too long to attempt to clip to belt, (3) seems so far that instead of pinpointing or assisting in locating the target it just confirms that you are touching the target with the probe, (4) The plastic casing, primarily the probe tip seems flimsy or for the lack of a better word cheap & (5) it went through a brand new Duracell 9V battery really fast.

I assumed when I took the Automax out of it's packaging that "Sure, it looks cheap in appearance...but that was just the sacrifice for having some great electronic components, Right?" Wrong! LOL! Well, guess it is just not the pinpointer for me. Lesson learned. Ok, what is the best pinpointer out there? Please give me your suggestions. I would prefer something compact. Oh, yea I also babble on a lot....or at least that is what my ex-wife said....hahahaha!

I've used about all of them. And in my opinion, the Garret ProPointer or the VibraProbe are the best. I currently use the ProPointer and have no complaints what-so-ever. JMHO HH Randy

I have done more reading on this subject than anyone should ever have to do....hahahahah! The Garret ProPointer looks like the perfect pinpointer for my needs; compact, the Garret Name and customer service & appears to be the most ruggedly constructed pinpointer in that price range. Will be my next MDing purchase.

You will not regret the Garrett pro pointer. I tried another brand 1st ant it is no comparision! Garrett is a great unit, Beale.

All 3 of us in our family each have the Garrett Pro Pointer. We are all very satisfied with it.

I owned 3 pinpointers before I bought the one I like the most of all...Garrett PP.

The V4 was a throw-in at $20.00, when I bought my safari earlier this year. Honestly, if coin isn't directly contacted by the tip of the probe, I'll likely miss it in the hole. Until I upgrade to better probe, I'll just wave the plugs and dirt over my coil....works better than the v4.... :ranting:

Get the Garrett Pro Pointer ... you can drive nails with it.
But you wont want to cause it works so good.
