Away from hot spot places

Think about places to check out that some people pass off as 'not good to detect'.

Some years ago in one back yard I detected the lawn and found only a few things. But away from the yard toward the back fence was an old clothes line with all hard packed dirt under it. I dug a couple newer coins but most of all, in one hole, I dug a Walking half, a Flying eagle quarter, a Washington silver quarter and a Roosevelt silver dime. I forget the dates but they sure were a thrill to find.

A friend & I detected a school yard and way off to the side, in all hard packed dirt, he dug a 14 K man's ring. And lots of people had detected this school before.

Here in Tucson a gold coin was dug about 10 years ago in an alley behind some houses. Apparently, the area had been a military marching area before the houses were put in. Myself, I have had luck in alleys and particularly in old car garages in the alley with the original dirt floors.

I find that when I do a lawn with hedge bushes that I always look under and along them. And most of the time I find silver somewhere along them. Not always but it is a good bet. I also look for mail man routes, where they travel from house to house. The third place I look is behind shrubs that kids will hide behind, like in the corner of a house. I have found alot that way.
