axe head

found this 6 inches deep. just by research it is in 1800's?? any input? i can't find any info on these chains.
I would say that axe dates back into the 1800’s most likely.
It looks longer than modern ones.
I have found some that are long and they came from old 1800’s house sites.
Nice find. How wide is the blade? If about 5" it was probably used for making shingles

Probably shingle hatchet with that size blade. Used to make shingling shingles for covering roofs. I have one. A carpenters hatchet ahs a hammer head . Your date sounds good.
