Babb's stainless tip sand scoop

I'm thinking of buying this scoop but have a question to people who have owned and used it. Have you had any trouble with the stainless tip working loose? Seems like after digging in hard shelled areas it would start loosening.
 
I've have used mine digging in the rocks for over 2 years with no problems at all.. Its a good strong well made scoop.
 
I've got the same scoop and no problems whatsoever with the tip. The only issue I have is that one of the bolts that holds my travel version together has stripped out after I used it without having the bolt tightened completely. I have to retap the hole and put in a slightly larger SS bolt but no biggy and as I say it's my own fault.

I should have thrown this ? in to. How does this scoop compare to other scoops for the water. I've checked out one with the round wooden handle but am afraid that would break but it does look like it would remove a lot of sand.
 
Well i bought 2 scoops form him one without tip and one with tip and what i noticed immediately that a scoop with the stainless tip much harder to dig,
so i sold it and bought just stainless scoop.

Take a look in the mirror and if you look anything like The Gulfhunter then I'd say go for it. If not, you better start working out cause your going to need all the muscle you can get to drag that baby around in the water. If you're a glutton for punishment, see if you can track down a Beach Brute in SS, huge bucket on that baby!

Hey Sand Scoop,
I have that scoop and I love it, it cuts thru the broken shells, gravel and pebbles at the beach like butter. I also got it to use for rocky freshwater lakes come spring. It is easy to use I put the point of it down, apply pressure with my foot and wiggle the handle side-side and it digs right in. The square back design allows it to sit on my shoulder without even really having to hold onto the handle.

I tried a lighter aluminum scoop and it flopped around in the surf/ current and I hated that.

I went with all stainless because it is heavier, most guys get an extra handle welded on their SS scoops because of that. The guy I bought mine from included a free adjustable/ removable extra handle.

I use it and I don't have a lot of upper arm strength like you guys!
 
And after a busy season here in Chicago this scoop looks the same as new. Thanks to Stainless Steel and electro polishing.
As for weight, it's no heaver then other SS scoops in fact I have hunted all day with no problems. Now I see Travis will update
this scoop probably making it the lightest SS around. :thumbup:

Call Travis at the phone number on the web page, I called him at 10pm thinking I would be able to just leave a message, he answered the phone and when I apologized for calling so late he said, "No worries call me anytime."

Hear is my BABBS scoop just got it never in the water yet, I sprayed some Truck Liner coating on the handle
Better grip N too keep the water from getting the handle COLD,
N im sealing the ends to keep water from getting in I hope it will kinda float from the air trapped???????????
On the scoop end I have JB Welld on the seam N on the handle end I have clear silicone on the rubber handle hole,
I mite put a second handle Like Beach Hunter N a arm cuff for the fore arm??? MickFin
 
try filling the tube with expanding foam like great stuff. if you're going to weld additional stuff on make sure you do this before adding foam it might burn and it will for sure fume (stink).

i've read that other's have done this with success.
