Back in the saddle again.:twodetecting:

I just spent four days up in Nashville dog setting, so my hunting had been a bit curtailed of late. They are dry as a bone up there, so I clad hunted early two mornings and stabbed $13.84 and 1 wheat cent. This morning Chris and I hooked up early and ventured off to check out a new spot. And, we weren't disappointed.

Chris ended up with a 1895 Barber quarter, which is the 4th fresh from the ground photo, a well worn Mercury dime and several wheat cents. His A T Pro is no longer a silver virgin. LOL His camera is on the fritz so I shot the quarter for him.

Right off I hit a couple of wheat cents and then 1 of the Mercury dimes. My next silver was another Mercury followed by the 52 Rosie. The 2 Merc's are 26 and 39. Along the way, I dug several more wheat cents and ended up with 10 in total for the hunt. The oldest being 1910. Also found a neat Memphis Police button. As we were swinging our way back to the car I got one more sweet sounding hit reading in the 82-83 range and thought, "be kind of neat to hit a Barber" and sure enough, it was. A 1906 for a nice dime trifecta.

Chris and I already have our next trip planned for returning to the spot. HH jim tn

That is some fantastic hunting!

You both had a great day. I got to change my bib, I'm drooling all over myself again. John's finding the rings and y'all got the silver. HH.

You never cease to amaze me, Jim. I ALWAYS look for your posts, lol.
I do have a question for you.....Do you always hunt new spots, or do you find some of these coins in places you've hunted a bunch already?
My problem lately, is just finding the time to go...

Probably 75 % of my silver comes from previously hunted spots. Either by self or others. I visit spots I've hunted many times, a lot There are some fringe areas on previously hunted spots that will often yield a silver or two, but for the most part, I try to take advantage of fresh rainfall, use different coils, go in different directions and with every piece of clad and trash dug, often that un-masked a good old coin. And, keep in mind, hunting 350 days or so a year doesn't hurt either. New spots are tough to come upon any more. While there are numerous of such in my area, they are in area's the only way I and my hunting buddies would go to is if we had Seal Team Six with us. HH jim tn

You do so well on the dirt, still, I wonder why you dont attempt water more often? I bet theres some sort of old swim hole or river or creek nearby you can crawl into with that Pro..I've often thought of hitting the Duck or Harpeth just east of you south of Nashville a bit...have you researched any old water nearby old skirmishes or towns or cemetarys? If so, dont post about it here on the open Forum! PM me and I will meet you there in 9hrs! I'll even bring a scoop for you!:beers:
Mud

Mud, there isn't a lot of good water hunting spots right around here. Most of the water is dam impoundments and Corp of Engineers regulated. Many have parks and hunting by permit only, if at all. And, most of all, water hunting is work. Shuffling along at a leisurely pace and digging an easy plug on turf is relaxing and less taxing. I will be in the water later while up in Mn looking for the summer drops. HH jim tn

I got the same problem, dgruff. Never enough time to detect, even tho I'm disabled retired. Wish I could go 2-3 times a week myself, much less 350 days a year. HH.

Looks like you've got another hot spot, Jim! Nice old silver and copper there, and that old police button is a trophy. :clapping:
