I was itching to get out after a rain out yesterday. I found out that we had lost power sometime during the night and when I woke up at 6:30 I thought good, I'll be hunting by 7. When I got in my truck my clock read 7:45 so I was 1 hour behind all day. Picture one is site one which is the site where I found all those coins last weekend. I didn't get 222 coins but I did manage 143 including a 1940 Canadian cent. School was built itn 1992. The nice items are pictured in photo 3. Sterling St. Christopher (I was named after him) medal, and 1/4 of an Ohio quarter. No sign of the rest. Nice clean cut so I don't suspect the mower. Somebody had dumped a whole lot of beer cans and trash in the field so I picked them up to recycle and tossed the trash in the dumpster. The custodian came and gave me hell for throwing so much trash in their dumpster and instead of arguing back I told him nicely how I cleaned up his soccer field and he thanked me because it was on his to do list. I got $2.30 for the cans at the grocery store and I'm now officially a can man. Spare some change sir? Wash you windshield?
Had a short break and headed to a new place to try. The weeds were about 7 feet high so I went to a spot I had hunted before to poke around for an hour. It was too wet to detect about 90 percent of the site so I concentrated on two little hills. 26 more coins. I needed 4 more dimes so I could have another full roll to throw into the tumbler. The interesting stuff for this hunt is also in photo 3. A piece of fools gold that I found laying on the road. My 2500 barely reads it in all metal mode. Very first target was the Sterling heart ring (pictured on the master lock wheel) which is the only jewelry I have ever found at this site. Stained glass cross pendant. Copper tag with C21 on it. Almost thought it might be a miners tag but since the nearest coal mine is about 300 miles away I doubt it. John what do you think?
One of the neatest things that occurred today is I found myself in a large patch of what I thought were weeds with small purple flowers. Very short at about 3 inches. I started digging around for a coin and when I broke a few leaves I got the strong small of fresh herbs like one might smell in a good Italian restaurant. I grabbed a handful to photograph but it did not make it home. Could this be wild oregano? Something else? It smelled so soothing I almost took a nap in it. This is also diected at you John. You are our resident herbologist.

The 2 sterling items tied and then broke the last 2007 total that I had mot matched. I will not equal any of my 2008 totals in 2009. I hope I can live with that.
