Went back yesterday. This time i have my long time fishing friend along. He picked up a Safari as his first detector. To keep things simple for him we hit an area i call "Clad city". He was pulling targets like a pro. The next part of the day i wanted to work over the area i pulled the Barber half from. Its a small section in a big area. Within 20 feet i hit a deepie on edge. Pulled a few more and the targets here were far and few between. All were deep 8-9 inches. Most had a black halo around them and didn't read solid. But the shear depth of the ET and superb id made it happen.

Odd that many of my deep barbers couldn't ID or get a repeatable signal on the Safari? It almost sounded like a scratchy falsing? Something i would walk over. Yet with the ET the signal would stop you in your tracks.

4 Barbers "5 if you count one i marked and gave to my friend to recover" Merc and a Roise. The buffalo was a nice hit too!

Very nice hunt. Always nice to have a friend along. Well done.

Sweet Multiple Barber Hunt!!!! Great job. You really cleaned up on the silver.

Do you think being new, the Safari wasn't set up right..or it just can't do what the Etrac does in the field ???

I read somewhere that the Safari only has a numerical read out..It also said in the article that Numerical will not hit same as the Smart find screen. The Numerical limits signals to within what is factory set perimeters. Whats your opinion on that..??

To me there is only so much you can setup on the safari. All things were equil when we cross checked targets. It came down to the diffrence between a target that would get walked over and one that would get dug. Yesterday was his first hunt. I've been hunting for 5 years with diffrent machines. Maybe with enough time with the Safari. I could get used to how it runs and figure it out. Maybe a diffrent coil would alow the tone to be more clear.

To be fair here. This part of the park is a advaced section to detect. The depth along with 100 year old trash at the same depth. Not to mention all the easy targets have been recovered by detectorest with minelab machines for the last 10 years. Slow low with over laping sweeps. Listining to the tones only. This small section took alot of reserch and two years detecting the park to find. Were talking a park that is square miles big. Not a small town park.

Awsome Day! Still trying to hit silver but im still learning this machine but pretty confident that if its there and deep im gonna know it just need to get the coil over some. HH Josh

Great finds Bob!As you said that park has been very hard hit for years by many Explorer users.I've noticed myself it is getting harder to have multiple silver hunts there, let alone all those Barbers. You have found yourself a real sweet spot in that park,Congrats!

Your Kickin it bro! Very nice barbers and to find that many in one hunt is very rare around here. Great job thanks for the pics!

Seems odd, given that the two machines share the same operating frequencies. Must have been some difference between discrimination settings, sensitivity, etc. I'm not familiar with the Safari, but in theory, it should be equal to an E-Trac, assuming an equal playing field of settings, etc. Anyone else have any theories on this? - Jim

Just to be clear. We both cross checked targets. The last target of the day we both spent some time on with both machines. I think the Deep function made the difference in how it sounded. There are some details to the ET that the Safari doesn't have such as the deep setting, auto +. Next time we go out and i hit a deepie were going to spend some considerable time on it together. The Safari, Explorer and ETrac are along the Explorer line but completely diffrent machines imo.

Great job! I also noticed a difference with my former Safari vs my E-Trac on how it reacts to deep coins.I'm not shooting down the Safari as it is a great machine but there definately is a difference.
