Backed over my laptop yesterday morning...

Pete in MI

New member
been working to hard...too little rest and decent sleep...no day off in the last week and a half to two weeks. Yesterday went out to the van with intentions of putting the laptop and other items in the back of the van. Forgot the keys. Figured why drag all the stuff back in just to get the keys. Laid the laptop case and other things on the driveway behind the van and went in to fetch the keys. Came back out and got into the van. As I sat there I was thinking "did I get everything?" Figured I did so started the van and backed up...until I heard a nasty sound under the van. Pulled ahead and got out to see the other items scattered in the driveway and the computer bag. Knew that I didn't want to know...put the things in the van and went to work.

At work I finally got up the courage to look at the damage. As I pulled the computer out of the case 'pieces' started falling on the table top. I had replaced the screen on this a little while ago and hoped it was undamaged. This is the side view...

The DVD RW drive was trashed and the cover for it was one of the 'pieces' that fell off.

The cover for the harddrive had come off too leaving the harddrive exposed.

The screen looked ok. Still felt bad...and exhausted.

Surprisingly, when I turned the computer on...it worked...well all except the DVD drive. Screen worked well and the harddrive wasn't trashed. I thanked God for that. Later after I got home I was able to straighten out the computer case so it wasn't bent so badly and was able to finally remove the old DVD drive. The screen I replaced awhile ago was from a laptop my sister-in-law gave me and I kept her old DVD drive. I was able to replace the old one with the new one.

Got the harddrive cover back on and now it looks pretty close to what it did before seeing what the underparts of my van looked like,

Thank you God.

BTW I am now the Head of Maintenance...even getting an office so to speak with a phone and have been interviewing people for maintenance positions. Lots of long hours but as yet no pay raise. Keep these hours going I should be able to buy another van with the next paycheck...well hoping anyway.

Just thought I'd let you all know I have been way too busy and obviously way too exhausted (I would never have laid the laptop on the driveway had I been thinking with all brain cells working). Maybe things will calm down a little in a few weeks.

Prayers gone out for all that are in need and God bless you all. Miss ya - one and all.

I know the feeling, about a month ago I ran over a computer tower that I had set down in the driveway along with my tool kit.

Man that hurts! Glad to hear the news at work!

Ouch! That hurt! Well...I guess the only thing you can do is buy a Panasonic Touch Book? Problem is...where do you get the $5000 grand? Sorry!

Bummer, but I can't believe it still works. Thars a mazing. I will pray that God gives you a raise.

Jeff

Even though you were the one who wasn't thinking and ran over your Laptop Computer, God still worked it out for your good and had supplied a DVD Drive ahead of time for you! Glad you are getting more work and; therefore, more money to provide for your needs and I will pray that God will give you favor and have your employers to give you a raise for taking on more work as head of maintenance! Remember, God supplies our every need and He is supplying yours! God Bless! Betty

I ran over my desktop computer once , I couldn't believe I left it outside. Just kidding Pete sorry about your computer.

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

All this for planned for as God already knew I needed a new DVD drive even before I knew I needed one. I also think allowing the manager to use my laptop is letting him see me as a Christian...one who has a good spirit...and a way to work good for God in the manager indirectly. Thank you God.
